This is just to say that I’m still here.  I’d offer a sneak peek except that I haven’t decided which real wedding is coming up next (like: should I work backwards from the end of last season or just jump headlong into this one?).   Helpful articles (the real reason I started this blog) are another story altogether. We have those in spades if I can just get around to posting them.    If I can just get a moment to sit down at my desk.  In the ever-lengthening meantime, however, let’s enjoy a little vicarious enthusiasm.  Because weddings are exhilarating.

I’m off cooking up some new vintage photo stuff for the next couple days, so I thought I’d share an iPhone photo, and wish you all a happy weekend!  This little iPhone technology trick doesn’t make me feel any better at all about Polaroid’s demise, but it does make me love my iPhone just a little bit more …  (And makes me secretly hope for some good-fake-digital-Polaroidical future).

Those of you who know me well know that I buried my father last week, after he battled leukemia for almost three years.  Now begins the harder project—reassembling my memories of him.  All our photographs are suddenly worth more.  This photograph of my parents on their wedding day hung in their bedroom when I was a child.  I have always, always loved it.

So, here’s to you, Dad.  I’m not sure how I’m going to get through photographing the father-daughter dance for the rest of my life … and I miss you so much.

(It felt like an eternity to me). Now the blog is back-dated to the end of April, but my diligent web designer, Chad Johnson, has been helping me recover the content.  I have learned an important lesson in backing up my written work as obsessively as I back up my photographs. (Though I do suppose all writers willingly operate at the brink of erasure … and perhaps all photographers strive tirelessly against this).  In any case, I will set to the task of re-posting the posts tomorrow.
