IN THE ALLEY BETWEEN STORMS

In the days before I moved from the midwest to California, I purchased a small Polaroid Land Camera and planned to make a Polaroid in each state I passed through. I shot the "Indiana" and "Illinois" Polaroids within a few hundred feet of each other, on each side of the state line. As I made my way west, I found I wanted to make dozens of photographs in each place I stopped. These Polaroids from the road are selected from an essay in words and photographs inspired by that migration.
